Jakarta, IO – Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto has been officially inaugurated as the Indonesian Young Farmers Association (PTI)’s board of patrons chairman during the organization’s national working meeting in Bogor, West Java, Saturday (11/6).
Prabowo is considered an apt figure for the position because he is seen as someone who cares about the fate of farmers and agriculture affairs in Indonesia. Prabowo’s idea to foster food self-sufficiency and self-reliance is the source of inspiration for PTI, according report by Sindonews.
In addition, Prabowo’s experience as chairman of the Indonesian Farmers Association (HKTI) was another reason for his appointment. Apart from Prabowo, a number of other names are also trusted to fill strategic positions at PTI.
They include Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo as chairman of the honorary council, Fary Djemy Francis as chairman of the advisory council, and Bayu Dwi Apri Nugroho as chairman of the expert council.
