IO, Jakarta – HOOQ, the biggest video-on-demand service in Southeast Asia Tenggara, announced that its original production series, “Brata”, is back for season 2 on its channel with a more complicated, tense, and exciting storyline. Building on the success of season 1, “Brata” season 2 also showcases new conflicts related to new characters. The 10-episode crime thriller series is broadcast exclusively on HOOQ starting today, Wednesday 12 February 2020.
Jennifer Batty, HOOQ’s Chief Content Officer, stated that she is very pleased with the return of “Brata”. “With its criminal thriller genre, ‘Brata’ has succeeded in getting international acknowledgment by means of various awards in the Asian Academy Creative Awards 2019, including the Best Actor award for Oka Antara. Each episode of ‘Brata’ season 2 is tenser and more exciting than the previous season. You can watch the first three episodes on HOOQ for free,” she said.
Oka Antara and Laura Basuki returned for season 2, which starts with the life of main character “Brata” after he succeeded in solving the mutilation/murder cases in season 1. Brata, now transferred to the Department of Archives, was forced to return to the field when a series of sadistic murders occurred in Sukadamai Village. The case forces Brata to face his past traumas, as well as making a difficult choice between the two important women in his life. Directed by Kuntz Agus and Aldo Swastia, season 2 cast includes famous stars like Yayu Unru, Dewi Irawan, Ully Triani, Rendy Kjaernett, Nicole Christy, and Emil Kusumo.

“Brata” is a HOOQ Indonesia original production series telling the story of the title character, a detective with photographic memory and tragic past played by Oka Antara. In the Asian Academy Creative Awards (“AACA”) 2019, “Brata” won the awards for Best Lead Actor (Oka Antara), Best Director (Kuntz Agus), Best Cinematography (Gandang Warah), Best Editor (Pulung,) and Best Theme Song (Elwin Hendrijanto). HOOQ won the awards for Best Sound Arrangement and Best Original Program by a Streamer.
