“For example, when he succeeded in optimally resolving conflicts in Poso, Aceh and Papua through reconciliation and post-conflict management. So, awarding him the title “Father of Peace” is very apt given his notable achievements,” said Kamhar.
He went on to say that considering the current threat to Indonesia’s democracy, he should be called the “Father of Democracy” instead.
“If we look at the current political dynamics, especially with the structured, systematic, and massive efforts from some elements in the power circle to cling on to power through presidential term extension and the apparent setback of democracy, the most appropriate title for President SBY should be the Father of Democracy,” said Kamhar.
