Saudi Authorities Release 34 Indonesian Citizens Who Use Fake Haj Visas

Jakarta, IO – Saudi Arabian authorities released without a fine 34 Indonesian citizens from Makassar who went on a haj (pilgrimage) using fake permits and visas.

Indonesian Consul General Yusron B Ambarie said that dozens of fake haj visa users have been deported to Indonesia on Qatar Airways flights on Monday (3/6) and arrived in Jakarta at 9.30pm WIB.

Yusron said the decision was at the discretion of the Saudi Arabian authorities. However, he revealed that three haj coordinators from Indonesia – identified by their initials SJ, SY and MA – who were alleged to facilitate the illegal trip are still being detained by the local authorities and will be referred to the public prosecution, per Kompas, Friday (7/6).

“The Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah is providing legal assistance and translation service for them,” said Yusron. (un)
