The plot and moral messages conveyed also tend to be “heavy.” Even in conventional wayang performances, the duration is too long and there are not many shows, not to mention the dominance of western arts and culture in the country which resulted in the perception by younger generation that traditional arts and culture are old-fashioned and less trendy. These reasons make the younger generation reluctant to watch traditional art performances such as wayang kulit.
