IO, Jakarta – Former Vice-Presidential Candidate Number 02 Sandiaga Uno stated that the struggle to develop Indonesia need not be confined within the structures of the Government. As the party adjudged to have come in second in the 2019 Elections, he believes that the effort to realize social justice is by becoming a balancing partner that keeps the Government in its place. “As what generally happens in an Election, the elected party will lead the Government. The unelected one will serve as the balancing partner that guides the future running of the Government,” Sandiaga said through his official Instagram account @sandiuno on Sunday (30/06/2019).
Sandi stated that he is outside of the Government not because he does not want to join in, but because he wants somebody to protect and remind the Government. “If we have a mechanism for mutual checking, mutual control, mutual protection, and mutual reminder, then Insha Allah (God willing) our Government will run properly,” he said.
Sandi stated that the Government in the future must ensure that job opportunities remain open, the prices of basic necessities remain affordable and controlled. He also would like to provide solutions that would control the economy more efficiently.
Furthermore, Sandi expressed his appreciation of the entirety of the Legal Team and all of his supporters who have jointly and responsibly executed the constitutional processes of their dispute regarding electoral results. “We appreciate their contribution in jointly and responsibly performing our mutual constitutional duty, i.e. maintaining our idealism, and fighting for honesty and justice,” he said.
Earlier, the Elections Commission (Komisi Pemilihan Umum – “KPU”) declared Joko Widodo-Ma’ruf Amin as the elected President and Vice President of the 2019 Elections. This declaration was expressed in Decree Number 1185/PL.01.9-Kpt/06/KPU/VI/2019. “We hereby declare that the Elected Presidential Candidate Pair in the President and Vice President Elections of 2019, Presidential Candidate Pair Number 01 Mr. Hajj Joko Widodo and Mr. Professor Doctor HC Kyai Haji Ma’ruf Amin,” KPU Chairman Arief Budiman said when reading out the decree in KPU Office in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (30/06/2019).
President Elect Joko Widodo (Jokowi) requested the help of Presidential Candidate Pair 02 Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno to jointly develop the nation, as according to him, Indonesia is a large country that cannot be properly developed by just one or two people. “Therefore, I ask that Pak Prabowo Subianto and Pak Sandiaga Uno to join hands with me and develop the country together,” Jokowi said at KPU Building, Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Sunday (30/06/2019).
