IO, Jakarta – Vice-Presidential Candidate 02, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, expressed his gratitude to all journalists who have published and covered all of his activities and struggles with Presidential Candidate Prabowo Subianto during the 2019 electoral campaign period.

“We express our utmost gratitude to our journalist friends who have been working hard and supported us all this time. We would also like to express our thanks for their faithfulness in accompanying us during our struggle so far,” Sandiaga said as he hosted an ifthar (breaking of the fast) gathering with journalists at the Prabowo-Sandi Media Center, Jalan Sriwijaya I No. 35, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (29/05/2019). “We want our media to be strong, self-reliant, independent, and objective, because it is free and independent media who are able to capture the actual mood of the people. It is only when the elites finally become able to capture the national soul honestly that correct solutions will present themselves,” he added.

In this opportunity, Sandiaga further reiterates that his struggles at the side of Prabowo are not yet over, because there is still the next stage of electoral dispute at the Constitutional Court. The dispute hearing is meant to prove the allegations of fraud during the elections. “We are still not done yet – there are still other stages. We keep on making the effort, pray, surrender ourselves to Allah SWT. Along with our best prayers we should include optimum efforts, prepare ourselves for the next stage at the Constitutional Court,” he said.

Sandiaga further requested that all volunteers and Indonesian citizens who support him to pray for him, so that this Constitutional Court proceeding becomes a milestone in protecting the democratic processes of our beloved Indonesia. He believes that it is now not about winning or losing the elections, but about how Indonesia as a nation can perform political education and provide the means for political education as well. This is part of the political task entrusted to him and Prabowo Subianto. “It is our patriotic duty to provide education and information to all elements of the nation. Naturally, we want our people to create a better-quality democracy – one that is more dignified – through the process at the Constitutional Court. I believe we will be successful in performing this task.” he said. (dsy)
