Jakarta, IO – Jakarta gubernatorial election candidate pairs Ridwan Kamil and Suswono registered their candidacy with the Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU) on Thursday (29/8). The pair is supported by an alliance of political parties under the banner of Onward Indonesia Coalition (KIM).
Upon arrival, they were greeted by the campaign team and supporters. They were escorted by representatives of each political party that supports them as well as the native Betawi community. The pair wore matching Betawi traditional costume with a black peci (cap), a white baju koko (long-sleeve collarless shirt), batik pants, and an orange sarong draped around their necks.

Ridwan Kamil, affectionately called Kang Emil is a politician from the Golkar Party while Suswono is from PKS. The pair is known by a portmanteau word “Rido” as part of the campaign branding strategies.
