IO, Surabaya – Outperforming large companies in Indonesia, Reza Aulia Akbar, a student of the master’s program, System and Industrial Engineering, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), managed to bring home the first prize trophy at the 2021 Indonesia Young Business Leaders Award (IYBLA). The awards ceremony was held via a live YouTube broadcast on 18 February.

The event, in the form of awards for young businesspeople, was organized by SWA magazine in collaboration with PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara. The series of events, from the selection to the awards ceremony, took place in December 2020. No kidding, Reza explained that the participants who took part in the 2021 IYBLA came from various large companies such as Dana Indonesia, Nusantara Animation Workshop which was involved in the Avengers film project, to PT Pertamina.

Reza is the President Commissioner of PT Research Prestasi Indonesia, a firm engaged in the scientific field. Reza’s efforts to achieve the title of champion have not been spared from the many screening processes, from submitting registration forms to being in the top 20. The man with glasses explained the twists and turns he had to face during the two months following 2021 IYBLA. “There are two categories in the competition, consisting of the main category and the auxiliary category,” he said, in a release received by the Independent Observer, Friday (26/2/2021).

The main 2021 IYBLA category is divided into the Business Unit Leaders category, for such as main commissioners or business division leaders, and the second, the Function Leaders category, such as marketing or finance division leaders. Meanwhile, the auxiliary category is open to finalists who have advantages or achievements in special fields, such as innovation, collaboration, or agents of social change.

According to the ITS System and Industrial Engineering alumnus, he competed in the main category within the Business Leaders Unit. Many materials are taken into consideration, starting from authenticity, the process of building leadership skills, the vision and innovation, the ability to form new leaders, to company performance and achievements. “So, after being able to get into the top 20, I did not have much hope to win the award,” said the student, who was born in Bantul.

As Reza said, he started a company in 2016 under the name Reza Research Company. In 2018, the student, who is also an author, rebranded the company into a product called Science Hunter Indonesia, and had the status of a start-up. Over time, Reza succeeded in bringing Science Hunter Indonesia into a legal entity called PT Research Prestasi Indonesia, on September 25, 2020.

Finally, Reza submitted Science Hunter Indonesia as the main superior service of PT Research Prestasi Indonesia in the 2021 IYBLA event and succeeded in winning. The company’s services are engaged in research and scholarship by providing training in the form of online classes for scientific writing, targeting students to professional researchers. “Maybe there are many research fields for lecturers, but for the development of the elementary, junior high, high school, and university students, it is rarely facilitated,” said Reza.

Not only Science Hunter Indonesia, but PT Research Prestasi Indonesia also has three other services. First, the Official Research House is an online application for learning, related to scientific research and in collaboration with the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA). Second, the Innovation Workshop, which is a supporting service for Science Hunter Indonesia and provides a forum for researchers to create their own innovative products (prototypes). Finally, the Indonesian Youth Olympiad Center (IYOC), an educational platform that is engaged in the Olympics.

IYBLA is an event aimed at bestowing appreciation onto potential young leaders, who have succeeded in proving themselves with good character, competent in their fields, and demonstrate a leadership spirit. IYBLA has a minimum requirement of three years of work experience. Age is limited to a maximum of 35 years for the position of Board of Directors (BOD) and 40 years for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and directors. (est)
