Jakarta, IO – Actress Marissa Grace Haque, wife of famous singer Ikang Fawzi passed away in Jakarta on early Wednesday (1/10) morning at the age of 61. The news of her death was conveyed by her eldest child, Bella Fawzi, via her personal Instagram account.

Innalillahi Wainnailahi Rojiun has returned to Rahmatullah, our beloved mother, Ibu @marissahaque. Please pray for my mother, friends, she was a good person,” penned Bella in a post on @bellafawzi_.

She then reuploaded an image on her Instagram feed by including the latest photo of Marissa Haque’s condition. “Please pray for my most beautiful mother in the world.. O Allah, love my mother.. give her the best place by your side,” wrote Bella.

Marissa, born in Balikpapan on October 15, 1962 as the eldest of her siblings, was also know as an author and her involvement in politics.

Marissa has two younger siblings who are also active in the Indonesian entertainment scene, namely model and actress Soraya Haque and actress and television presenter Shahnaz Haque.

Marissa began her career as an actress, starring in various popular feature films including Tinggal Landas Buat Kekasih (1984) and Biarkan Bulan Itu (1986). Her impressive acting earned her a Citra Award nomination at the Indonesian Film Festival, and she even won the award for Best Supporting Actress.

Marissa married Ikang Fawzi on July 3, 1986. They met on set during the filming of Tinggal Landas Buat Kekasih, directed by Sophan Sophian. The couple have two daughters, Bella Fawzi and Chikita Fawzi. (un)
