Further down the hall, visitors will see another room that keeps messages of condolences and obituaries from his friends, colleagues and the press, written in old spelling system making them feel so authentic. There is also a rocking chair that Bung Koko used to sit on.

At one corner of the room there is a type writer that visitors can use to type their impressions on the program program that will later be displayed on the room. 

Many of the young generation today may not be familiar with Soedjatmoko Mangoendiningrat. But he was intrumental in the country’s independence struggle. Bung Koko is known as an intellectual, a diplomat and politician during momentuous period of 1940s.

According to Tempo, he represented Indonesia in the UN, served as envoy to the U.S., and an advisor to then foreign minister Adam Malik.

The exhibition was conducted in collaboration with Samudera Indonesia, AJAR, Future Institute, Prisma and Studio Aliri. They also enlisted the help of writer and achivist Esha Tegar Putra and researcher, investigative journalist and editor Kelana Wisnu as the curator. 

The exhibiton also marked the closing of a series of events that began on January 10, 2022 to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the figure who has important contributions to Indonesian history. (un)
