Ratna Intan Sari educates community members about COVID-19

IO, Solo – Ratna Intan Sari, a student in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, Central Java, has been spreading information to community members of Sidayu Village RT 01/RW 01, Bandar Subdistrict, Batang District, on COVID-19, as a part of her Community Service Program (KKN). This particular village is selected as a target of socialization as an example of the low awareness on COVID-19, and because Bandar sub-district was in a red zone. 

Having selected “Supporting Community Comprehension on COVID-19” as her theme, Ratna conducted various events such as online socialization of COVID-19 through social media group, dissemination of posters concerning COVID-19 around Sidayu village, empowerment of tailor to produce fabric mask, also educate the community the correct way to wear a mask and how to clean it. She also discussed the food security with the villagers and shares mini info on COVID-19. 

“Alhamdulillah all the activities received positive responses. The KKN COVID-19 UNS program is expected to improve the community’s understanding in facing COVID-19,” Ratna said, as quote by uns.ac.id, Sunday (6/28/2020). 

Sahrir, Chief of RT 01 Sidayu Village, expressed his gratitude to UNS for the program. Field Supervisor for KKN Covid-19 UNS, Winarno, S.Si., M.Eng stated that the program was designed for sixth-semester students in the form of UNS voluntary actions in handling COVID-19 in their respective residential areas.
