Erick asked Raffi to greet local residents who were exercising around the Roundabout that day. He complied: “Come on, all citizens of Jakarta and basketball fans across the country! Let us get ready to welcome the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. It will bring many benefits to Indonesia – not only will we see basketball stars from all parts of the world: we can also show them how our country has progressed so meaningfully in the sport,” he said.

Raffi will stage campaigns for FIBA World Cup 2023 through his social media accounts. He believes that Indonesian basketball fans will enthusiastically watch the game, even though our national team will not be participating, because we failed to meet the requirement of making the top eight during the recent FIBA Asia Cup in Jakarta. “However, as the host, we will serve as the clear sky for the world’s basketball stars to shine in,” he said poetically. “It’s such a waste if we miss the sight of these stars battling directly before our eyes right here in Jakarta! My duty is to invite all Indonesian citizens to come and make the event a success. Basketball is one of the world’s top sports, and we have need to show these international players how good a host Indonesians are. I need to acquaint them with the fact that Indonesia is a modern, progressive, and amazing country.”

Good luck, Raffi! May your endeavors to encourage Indonesians to welcome, participate in, and attend the FIBA World Cup 2023 in the Indonesia Arena be a success, and may we really become the clear sky where world basketball stars can really shine. (rp)
