Jakarta, IO – Sampoerna University is a world-class education institution, committed to success of future Indonesian generations who are ready to work and compete in the global network. Qualified and resilient Indonesian human resources are pivotal in responding to the challenges of global recession and the bubble burst phenomenon. Sampoerna University’s “Bright Future Talks!” recently held a talk show presenting prominent practitioners in the Human Resources Department, intending to spread awareness of the significant role of qualified human resources.

A student and Alumni Affairs Manager of Sampoerna University, Farrah Mahdaly, said that educational activities such as the talk show present the latest insights from business and industry. Sampoerna University seeks to provide solutions for developing resilient Indonesian human resources under any circumstances.

The event presented the Associate Director of Michael Page, Amelia Lestari, who highlighted the importance of both soft and hard skills in preparing for a skilled and competent future generation. “Hard skills would adapt and attach to their respective functions such as Marketing, Sales, Finance, and other fields of work. Meanwhile, soft skills such as ownership, resilience, in a proactive, agile, and adaptive stance, play a crucial role in determining whether or not talent is classified as “high-demand”. Therefore, educational institutions must encourage their students to hone these soft skills through various programs, organizations, internships and networking. In addition to soft skills, an educational background, such as institutional credentials and international titles, are also important as they add value for companies in selecting their prospective employees,” explained Amelia.

The current trends of company needs reveal several qualities for high-demand talents and human resources. “Apart from a solid educational background, future human resources must possess a high fighting spirit, interpersonal skills, excellent personal branding, exploring and updated skills and self-discipline. A good educational background helps shape the mindset and potential and positively exposes the candidate. Competence is the main capital in facing a world of work,” added Ahmad Mawardi, the Talent Acquisition Division Head of MNC Bank.
