Jakarta, IO – The Presidium of Prabowo Subianto Volunteers (PRPS) was declared in March and is now working on strategic activities to support Prabowo Subianto’s presidential election candidacy. The visit to Suryabuana Islamic boarding school by PRPS patron Hashim S. Djojohadikusumo was the first step to establish a harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship between the two sides. Hashim himself was interested in knowing more about one of the activities in the school, namely a regular discussion on national issues.

“I myself am a Christian but this did not discourage me to come and get acquainted with Kanjeng Syeh Sirrulloh, the leader of the Suryabuana Islamic boarding school, and the students. Principles to uphold national values, love for the motherland and strengthened by religious knowledge make good citizens. I believe that the students here are equipped with these noble values that will protect them from bad influences,” said Hashim.

As Prabowo Subianto’s younger brother and Gerindra Party Board of Patrons deputy chairman, Hashim said strengthening national values among young people is one of the main ideas and principles that is of great concern to presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto, because youth are an important part of Indonesian society and they play a great role in shaping the future of the nation. Based on Statistics Indonesia’s (BPS) National Socioeconomic Survey in March 2022, Indonesia has a youth population of 68.82 million. “Therefore, they need to be involved in various activities to develop their potential and enable them to make a positive contribution to society,” said Hashim.

Suryabuana Islamic boarding school was the first to be visited by Hashim in 2023. It is located in Balak, a remote hamlet on the slope of Mount Balak. It is part of Losari village, Pakis district, Magelang regency, 15 km east of Magelang city. The school is under the auspices of Bakti Umat Foundation and is the activity center for Tarekat Qodiriyyah Wa Naqsabandiyyah which organizes the Manakib Syekh Abdul Qadir Al-Jailani attended by congregations from various regions including Magelang regency, Salatig and Demak.

Kanjeng Syeh Sirrulloh, the elder and founder of the school, is the son of Said bin Muhtar and son-in-law of Kyai Ahmad, who studied with Pangersa Abah Anom of Surillaya Islamic boarding school in Tasikmalaya and helped Kanjeng Syeh Sirrulloh found and grow Tarekat Qadiriyyah Wa Naqsyabandiyyah.

One of the main activities of the school is weekly and monthly lectures and discussions conducted every Saturday attended by hundreds to thousands of participants. “National and humanistic values are not contradictory to religious values, be it Islam or other religions. Islamic values such as peace are in harmony with national values which also promote peace and unity,” said Kanjeng Syeh Sirrulloh. He also expressed his joy at Hashim’s visit and his willingness to learn more about the aspirations of the school. One of the discussions conducted at this school, titled “Searching for a Just Leader Towards Indonesia’s Awakening” has great meaning and hope for the eternity and strength of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).

Meiky Parwanti, the initiator of the PRPS and chairwoman of volunteer organization Pandu Garuda Merah Putih (PGMP), expressed her joy and pride at the realization of the meeting between Hashim and Kanjeng Syeh Sirrulloh. “Mr. Hashim’s visit to the Suryabuana Islamic boarding school was to reciprocate the visit from the school’s delegation who conveyed Kanjeng Syeh Sirrulloh’s personal message to Mr. Prabowo some time ago. PGMP as one of the volunteer organizations under the auspices of PRPS only bridges and gathers the aspirations of Prabowo’s supporters. We hope this synergy can be maintained through impactful programs after this meeting,” Meiky said.

“We are well aware of the influence of religious leaders on the presidential election in Indonesia. The public needs to get the right direction through adequate information, as well as be informed by concrete actions of each candidate in the 2024 presidential election. Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto has the solutions to the challenges faced by our country and has proven his loyalty in realizing unity, justice and revival of the nation,” explained Mitra Vinda, PRPS coordinator and adviser.

Currently, PRPS has established more than 20 volunteer bases across Indonesia and more like-minded volunteers are expected to join in the near future. (des)
