Prosecutors demand 10.6 years sentence for Lukas Enembe in bribery and gratification case


Jakarta, IO – Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors charged suspended Papua governor Lukas Enembe 10 years and six months in prison over his involvement in Rp47.8 billion bribery and gratification case, per Detikcom, Wednesday (13/9).

Lukas was found guilty for receiving Rp10.4 billion in bribe from Piton Enumbi, owner of PT Melonesia Mulia, and Rp35.4 billion from Rijatono Lakka, director of PT Tabi Anugerah Pharmindo.

The bribes, in the form of cash and construction favour, were given in a Papua Provincial Administration goods and services procurement for the fiscal year 2018.

Lukas was charged with Article 12a and 12b of the Corruption Eradication Law in conjunction with Article 55(1.1) and Article 65 (1) of the Criminal Code.

Lukas faced aggravating factors that included his convoluted and impolite statements during the trial. Meanwhile, his lack of previous convictions becomes a mitigating factor. (bp)
