IO – Chairman of the Functional Group (Golongan Karya – “Golkar”) Party Central Leadership Council’s Legal and Human Right Advocacy Committee (Badan Advokasi Hukum dan HAM – “Bakumham”), Supriansa, responded to the decision made by the House of Representatives’ Ethics Council to pursue the report filed against House Deputy Speaker Azis Syamsuddin. “Golkar respects any ongoing legal processes, whether they are held internally within the Ethics Council or outside it, including the ones involving Mr. Azis,” Supriansa said on Tuesday (18/05/2021).

Supriansa believes that the members of Ethics Council are people with a high level of integrity. “Therefore, I fully leave the prosecution of the case in the hands of the Ethics Council. They will handle the complaint professionally according to their SOP. Let’s just wait for the process to roll out smoothly, and let’s pray that Mr. AS can undergo them properly as well,” he said.

The House of Representatives’ Ethics Council has previously agreed to follow up on reports made against Deputy Speaker Azis Syamsuddin, in a Plenary Report held on Tuesday (18/05/2021) afternoon. “We have agreed to call in all reporting persons, we are discharging the investigation within the time frame that we have planned, and it will be performed as quickly as possible,” said the Chairman of the House Ethics Council, Aboe Bakar Alhabsyi, in the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, after the Meeting ended.
