President Jokowi ranks 13th as one of the world’s most influential Muslims

Jakarta, IO – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is included in the list of the world’s most influential Muslims in 2023. He is placed 13th of 500 figures.

The list crowns King Salman of Saudi Arabia as the most influential Muslim figure in the world, followed by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Egyptian professional footballer Mohamed Salah in the top five, reported Merdeka on Monday (31/10).

Other than President Jokowi, chairman of Indonesia’s and the world’s largest Muslim organisation Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Yahya Cholil Staquf, also made it to the list. He is ranked 19th, followed by influential cleric/scholar Habib Luthfi bin Yahya in 30th place.

The list is compiled by The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre (MABDA), an independent research entity affiliated with the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought, an international Islamic non-governmental, independent institute based in Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
