President Jokowi launches Government Credit Card and international QRIS

Jakarta, IO – President Joko Widodo officially launched the Government Credit Card (KKP) and the international Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS), at Bank Indonesia (BI), Jakarta, Monday (29/8).

“This is proof that our country is keeping abreast with the rapid changes in digital economy,” Jokowi said.

He also BI to oversee and assist government agencies to join the KKP system which aims to accelerate the payment of government spending.

As for the international QRIS, Jokowi expressed his hope that this system can improve transaction efficiency among ASEAN member states.

“Internationally-accepted QRIS can make it easier for our MSMEs, our tourism sector to connect with other countries within ASEAN,” he explained.

BI governor Perry Warjiyo said BI has connected the QRIS payment system with a number of countries in ASEAN.
