President Jokowi Inaugurates 7 Integrated Cross-Border Posts in Several Regions

Jakarta, IO – The inauguration was carried out in centralized manner at the Napan cross-border post (PLBN), East Nusa Tenggara, Wednesday (2/10).

President Jokowi said that the infrastructure represents the face of Indonesia. Jokowi also called the PLBN a representation of the progress of the nation and state. He also ordered all PLBNs to be built in all corners of the country, as per Setkab.go.id.

“I say that the border is the ‘front porch’ of our country that represents the face of our country Indonesia. The face of our country is here, in the PLBN that we build,” said Jokowi.

In addition to the Nipah PLBN, the other six PLBNs inaugurated today are the Serasan in Natuna regency (Riau Islands), Jagoi Babang in Bengkayang regency (West Kalimantan), Sei Nyamuk in Sebatik Island (North Kalimantan), Labang in Nunukan regency (North Kalimantan), Long Nawang in Malinau regency (North Kalimantan) and Yetetkun in Ninati District, Boven Digoel regency (South Papua).

According to Jokowi, from 2015 to 2024, the government has built a total of 15 PLBNs. “Today we will inaugurate seven integrated cross-border posts spread across East Nusa Tenggara, in the Riau Islands, in West Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, in South Papua, built at a total cost of Rp1.3 trillion, not a small amount of money,” he explained.

Jokowi further said that PLBNs built in a number of regions has various benefits, one of which is increasing regional security and fostering the growth of new economic centers.

“These PLBNs will improve services for Indonesian people who cross the border, then increase security in border areas and encourage the growth of new economic centers on the border, and instill love and pride for the motherland in our people living on the border areas,” said Jokowi. (un)
