Jakarta, IO – President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo chose “Pohon Hayat” (Tree of Life) as the official emblem of the Indonesia’s new capital city Nusantara (IKN). The symbol was crafted by Aulia Akbar, a graphic designer from Bandung.
Jokowi said it symbolizes the source of life, which aligns with the philosophy of IKN to become the source of life for the Indonesian people.
“This is the Tree of Life, we all hope that this emblem will give the inspiration for IKN to become a new place of life for all of us the Indonesian people in the future,” Jokowi said.
He also hopes that it will support the efforts to accelerate the development of IKN, set to become Indonesia’s most futuristic city.

Previously, the government held a competition to create the emblem for Nusantara. It was participated in by around 500 designers.
The curator then submitted ten best ones to the president. Jokowi chose five logos and ask for the people to vote for the best via the official website of Nusantara. More than 500,000 citizens took part in the poll. (un)
