Jakarta, IO – Republic of Indonesia Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto inspected the work of Village Supervisory Non-Commissioned officers (Bintara Pembina Desa – “Babinsa”) at the Military Regional Command of Indramayu, West Java, last Friday, 23 December, as well as delivering support packages to them.

“The Babinsa and the people are the vanguard of our country’s defense. I thank you very much for your dedication and devotion,” he said. “Thank you, Indramayu, thank you, West Java.”

For this institutional visit, Minister Prabowo also inspected the Karangsong Fishery Auction Hall of Indramayu, observing how local fishermen took the catch from their boats’ cold storage, got sorting and weighing the fish before the auction. Following an inspection of the routine fish bidding session, Minister Prabowo went on to distribute 1,500 packages of daily necessities to both fisherfolk and non-fisherfolk in need.

Prabowo went on to declare that a great concern of the State is to improve the welfare of all military officers, all the way down from the Regional Defense Command (Komando Wilayah Pertahanan – “Kowilhan”), the Military Regional Command (Komando Daerah Militer – “Kodam”), the Military Territorial Command (Komando Resor Militer – “Korem”), the Military District Command (Komando Distrik Militer – “Kodim”), the Military Area Command (Komando Rayon Militer – “Koramil”), and the Babinsa, which is the lowest level of the National Police. This is because the police are drawn from the people, and serve as internal guards and protectors of all Indonesians.
