IO, Jakarta – After the Constitutional Court (MK) rejected all the claims of presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and vice-presidential candidate Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, the candidates met with the press which since noon had waited in Prabowo’s residence in Jalan Kartanegara, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. Accompanied by their Adil dan Makmur coalition (Just and Prosperous), Prabowo thanked all of his supporters all across Indonesia, parties in his coalition, the National Committee to Elect Prabowo-Sandi, the ulema, Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) retirees, housewives (relawan emak-emak), doctors, youths, nurses, farmers, fishers, and all Indonesians who had supported Prabowo-Sandi sincerely and whole heartedly.
After hearing the Constitutional Court’s verdict concerning the Prabowo-Sandi claim, the serial number 02 candidate admitted it was very disappointing for the Just and Prosperous coalition and Prabowo-Sandi supporters. Although with a heavy heart, as promised, Prabowo-Sandi would obey and follow the constitutional route taken in line with the 1945 Constitution and current laws. “As a result, we hereby respect the decision of the Constitution Court. We fully surrender truth and justice to Allah SWT, God Almighty,” said Prabowo, accompanied by Sandiaga Uno.
After the decision was announced, the serial number 02 candidates would consult their legal team for advice on whether there was another legal route which they could persue. “We will also promptly invite all of the Indonesia Just and Prosperous Coalition to discuss our next steps,” he added.
Prabowo-Sandi also stated their appreciation for the trust, support, hard work, and loyalty in fighting for the Prabowo-Sandi 2019-2024 campaign. They also conveyed several things to their supporters.
“Our struggle was a noble and honorable struggle. We support and continue the struggle, aspirations, and teachings of our proclamators. We want to create a just and prosperous Indonesia. We want to create an Indonesia that is truly independent, politically independent, economically independent, and culturally independent. We want Indonesia’s riches to be enjoyed by Indonesia’s people. We want to stop the flow of Indonesia’s riches going abroad. We want Indonesia to stand on its own feet, and not be another country’s appendage. We want everyone to receive a reasonable and prosperous life. We want affordable food prices for all Indonesians. We do not want there to be hungry people in Indonesia. We want to be self-sufficient in food, energy, and water. We want decent salaries for all government employees so we can eradicate corruption. Those are our goals. This is our fight. We are sure that we will not stop fighting for those dreams. We can fight in the legislative arena; we can fight in other forums. We can consolidate. We have real people power. Let us face the future with passion and optimism,” stated Prabowo.
“I ask all of my supporters, do not lose heart. We must remain strong, we must remain calm, remain full of noble ideals, but always in the framework of peace, anti-violence, and loyalty to the constitution. We must think about the greater good, the unity of our nation and country. We must view all the nation’s children as our own family members,” he concluded. (Dan)
