Jakarta, IO – The gunman that shot 11 people dead during a Chinese New Year celebration at a dance venue on Saturday (21/1) in Monterey Park, California, U.S., has been identified as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran, reported Detik, Tuesday (24/1).
He was found dead from self-inflicted gunshot wound after being pursued by the police. He reportedly shot himself in a stolen white van that he used to escape after being cornered by a team of SWAT personnel in hot pursuit.
The police also revealed that the elderly perpetrator intended to kill more people because after leaving Monterey Park, the perpetrator drove to another dance hall at nearby Alhambra, but a brave man managed to disarm him. The gunman then fled the scene.

As for the motive, the police admitted that they have yet established any motive but is trying to figure the perpetrator’s mental disorder and criminal history. (un)
