Jakarta, IO – A safe filled with drugs was found at the student council secretariat of the Faculty of Letters, Makassar State University (UNM), South Sulawesi.
South Sulawesi Police Chief, Inspector General Setyo Boedi Moempoeni Harso explained that the finding was the result of investigation into an arrest made on Sultan Hasanuddin St., Gowa regency on June 3.
Setyo did not specify the number of suspects arrested, but he said one of them was identified as S who confessed that they often consumed methamphetamine at the campus. Based on the information, four more suspects were arrested during a drug party on June 8.
“S was a methamphetamine mule in the campus. He gave a valuable information that led to the arrests,” said Setyo.

Setyo said police found a safe measuring 35cm in length and 25cm in width used to store the drugs, hidden under the floor in the student secretariat office. Police suspected that the safe was being used as a guise.
Based on the suspects’ statements, the drugs trade in the university has taken place since 2019, controlled by prisoners at Janeponto and Watampone penitentiary centers. (un)
