Jakarta, IO – The Legal Aid Foundation of the Indonesian Women’s Association for Justice (LBH APIK) asked National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo to use the momentum of Brigadier Yoshua Hutabarat’s (Brigadier J) murder to conduct a thorough evaluation of the police organization.

“This includes auditing the placement of excessive number of aides to guard wives of police senior official,” said LBH Apik Indonesia director Nursyahbani Katjasungkana on Saturday (10/9).

Furthermore, Nursyahbani said that LBH Apik Indonesia appealed to the police chief to address the allegation that there are fiefdoms within the police, what she termed as “headquarters within headquarters.”

“This also includes not showing off a luxurious lifestyle,” added Nursyahbani.

LBH Apik, which oversees 18 legal aid offices for women and children in 18 provinces, also highlighted the statement by the National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) concerning the allegation of sexual assault in the case.
