Jakarta, IO – The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) stated it will remain in the opposition until the end of President Joko Widodo’s term. This was conveyed by PKS spokesperson Ahmad Mabruri in response to National Mandate Party (PAN) chairman Zulkifli Hasan joining the “Indonesia Forward” cabinet as trade minister.
“PKS will remain outside the government until 2024, we will continue as opposition,” Mabruri was quoted as saying by CNN Indonesia, Wednesday (15/6).
In the 2019 presidential election, PAN, PKS, Gerindra, and Democratic Party formed a coalition to nominate Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno.
However, once the presidential election was over, Gerindra joined the Jokowi administration. Gerindra chairman Prabowo was appointed defense minister. In 2021, PAN also joined the government coalition. Now, its chairman became a minister.
