IO – Pensieve, an AI/deep tech startup based in Indonesia, has announced a “pre-seed round” from a group of “super-angel investors” hailing from Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei, led by Pandu Patria Sjahrir. This round of funding is driven by the Company’s significant revenue growth and product focus. In less than a year after its inception, Pensieve has already succeeded in generating revenue and securing product adoption by a number of customers. Both revenue and the number of Pensieve customers are expected to grow exponentially in 2022.

Pensieve was founded in 2021 with Farina Situmorang as Co-Founder and CEO, and aims to empower governments and enterprises in the quest to transform their operations, through Pensieve’s AI-driven ops software. Pensieve has already begun collaborating with government customers to sharpen decision-making in their mission-critical operations.

As CEO, Farina Situmorang points out how many sizable organizations are still unable to realize the true value of their existing data. “We build an AI-driven ops platform that unlocks better workflow & decision-making potential within large organizations,” Situmorang explained.

Pensieve intends to use proceeds to accelerate product development, by hiring more team members and expanding its customer base in Southeast Asia, starting with Singapore and Brunei. Within less than one year, Pensieve’s team and offices have now grown across Indonesia, Singapore, and India.

According to a recent analysis by Kearney, Artificial Intelligence (AI) can exert a significant overall impact: a 10 to 18 percent increase in GDP across Southeast Asia by 2030, equivalent to approximately $1 trillion. It has now become apparent that AI development and deployment are at an all-time high, particularly in Southeast Asia, and Pensieve is ready to spearhead this digital transformation.

As the lead investor, Pandu Patria Sjahrir is ecstatic about the opportunity to participate in building one of the first deep-tech companies in the AI and analytics sector in Indonesia. “Pensieve has enjoyed very strong growth, and I feel most fortunate, along with the other angel investors, to be able to participate in this angel round,” Sjahrir affirmed.

Sjahrir commends Pensieve’s founders and team, all intent on expanding the Company. “I do hope that Pensieve can become one of the very first Indonesian companies to expand regionally in this sector, and continue to contribute to the advancement of the nation,” he added.

Pensieve perceives enormous opportunities for its products across Southeast Asia. “We are confident that with continued support for our expansion, we can assist organizations in the region, with the awareness that these organizations are facing similar problems and require use cases similar to those put in place in Indonesia,” Situmorang added.
