Jakarta, IO – PDIP secretary general Hasto Kristiyanto believes that political parties should produce, instead of hijacking others’ cadres, in response to rumour that one of his cadres, Ganjar Pranowo, is going to be nominated by a different party to run in the 2024 presidential election.

“In a political tradition, parties have the duty to forge each of its members or cadres, not to hijack cadres from other parties, that’s part of political ethics that must be upheld,” Hasto was quoted as saying by CNN Indonesia, Saturday (11/6).

Hasto also reaffirmed that his party will comply with the procedures governing the stages of the election that have been set by the General Elections Commission (KPU). According to him, all party cadres have been instructed to wait for the party chairman’s decision.

PDIP, he continued, advises against “overtaking” in politics. On the other hand, all parties should be able to work together to help address real issues in the community.
