Jakarta, IO – An improvised bomb exploded right next to the house of senior Papuan journalist Victor Mambor in Jayapura, Papua, Monday (23/10), reported Merdeka, Tuesday (24/1).

Police are currently investigating the incident suspected of being a terror attack aimed at journalists and members of the Jayapura Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) Advisory Council.

Victor revealed that the bomb exploded at around 4am WIT on the roadside about three meters from his house in Angkasapura Village, North Jayapura district, Jayapura.

The explosion startled Victor and his family and a number of residents in the residential complex. At first Victor thought the explosion was coming from the nearby electrical substation.

“When the explosion set off, the walls of the house shook like in an earthquake. I also checked the source of the explosion and smelled sulphur. It turned out that there were traces of an explosion on the side of the road which was only three meters away,” he said.
