Jakarta, IO – The Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya released photos and videos of Susi Air pilot Captain Philips Max Marthen who was taken hostage after the plane was set ablaze in Nduga regency, Papua, Tuesday (7/2), reported CNN Indonesia, Wednesday (15/2). The pilot can be seen flanked by armed militants from the National Liberation Army of West Papua-Free Papua Movement (TPNPB-OPM).

The Kiwi pilot has been held hostage for a week since the plane was burned on Tuesday (7/2). In the photo sent by TPNPB-OPM spokesperson Sebby Sambom, Philips can be seen wearing shorts and a black shirt, blue jean jacket, hat and shoes. In the video, he conveyed a short message: “Papua OPM captured me for a free Papua” and repeats the sentence in English.

In another clip, Sebby claimed responsibility for the hostage-taking as a “guarantee” for the recognition of Papua’s independence. In effect, TPNPB-OPM has made Philips a political prisoner.
