A dedicated Indonesian artist deserving the 77 Portraits Anak Bangsa commission, one of the most striking works of I Nyoman Nuarta, representing his love for the country, is the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Statue in the Bukit peninsula, in the extreme southern part of Bali. Jalesveva Jayamahe Monument in Surabaya and the Arjuna Wijaya Statue in Jakarta are among other monumental Nyoman Nuarta works.

Nyoman Nuarta founded NuArt Sculpture Park in Bandung, West Java in 2000; a one-stop museum, gallery, theater room, restaurant, studio and workshop.

Yori Antar is one of the country’s most renowned architects, renowned for his contribution to the Indonesian world of architecture, also to be portrayed in the 77 Portraits Anak Bangsa. Yori Antar started his career in 1989, by creating Arsitek Muda Indonesia, a group of architects enlivening the Indonesian architectural universe, particularly in Jakarta.

Yori Antar supported a ‘Rumah Asuh’ movement in 2008: this movement invited selected pupils to learn from artists and village communities for more than a month, studying how to build traditional houses in all villages in Indonesia.

The Rumah Asuh movement aims to become a new learning platform for students majoring in architecture, a learning process and passing on the knowledge of building and designing traditional houses for future generations. Learning is carried out through lecturing and writing, forging a bond of communication between traditional elders and the nation’s next generation.
