Jakarta, IO – Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) is targeting a flying taxi trial to be held before Indonesia’s 79th Anniversary. Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation Mohammed Ali Berawi said that flying taxis would become one of the forms of transportation at IKN.

“The flying taxi trial will be carried out before the 79th Indonesian Independence Day on August 17, 2024,” said Ali, per Katadata, Tuesday (19/9).

Ali said his department is currently preparing the facilities and infrastructure to meet the need for flying taxis, one of them is a flying taxi platform like a helipad.

As the flying taxi is still in the development stage, he hopes Indonesian human resources can master this technology. OIKN is also exploring opportunities for collaboration with national companies to develop the capacity of flying taxi technology.

“We are carrying out a proof of concept, namely the technology must be proven that it is reliable,” he said. “We hope there is technology that can be used to create, develop and increase the capacity of Indonesian human resources.”
