Eri admitted that the no-homework policy generates controversy among parents but in his opinion, this is to be expected as there is always pros and cons to every policy. “Parents need to understand that there is still ‘homework’ but it is in the form of character building,” he said.

Furthermore, he appealed to the parents to work with the schools to develop the children’s character by being involved in actively monitoring their child’s development.

“Children’s character development is the responsibility of the school and the government, but what is more important it is also the responsibility of the parents. Do not burden children with homework because parents cannot educate them. Parents must be present for their children to prevent them from becoming individualistic,” he argued. (un)
