Jakarta, IO – Hendra Kurniawan, former chief of police internal security bureau, part of the internal affairs division (Divpropam) refused to comment on his alleged involvement in an illegal mining activity revealed by Ismail Bolong in a video that went viral.
“Just wait for Ismail Bolong’s (statement) later, he is being sought,” said Hendra, reported Tempo, Thursday (24/11).
Ismail Bolong, also a former police officer, confessed to running illegal mines during his service at the Samarinda Police Department. He said the proceeds of crime, in the billions of rupiah, were also disbursed to several high-ranking police officers, including chief of the National Police’s criminal investigation division (Kabareskrim) and Bontang Police chief investigator.
Apart from Ismail’s confession, a number of investigation documents from the Divpropam, signed by its ex-chief Ferdy Sambo and Hendra Kurniawan himself also made rounds. Ferdy and Hendra are suspects in the murder of Brig. Yosua Hutabarat (“Brig. J”). The murder trial is underway. (un)
