Jakarta, IO – Ni Nengah Widiasih broke the ASEAN Para Games record in the women’s 45 kg class powerlifting sport, Monday (1/8).

Widi broke the record in her own name, recorded at the 2017 ASEAN Para Games. Widi set a new record after successfully lifting a load of 97 kg or 1 kg heavier than the old record.

The 97 kg force was Widi’s first attempt, while in the second and third batches, when she tried to lift 99 kg, Widi failed to make it.

With this result Widi won a gold, but as quoted from Antara, the athlete from Bali also apologized for not being able to achieve maximum results as shown last month in Korea.

“But I am grateful to be able to fly the Red and White flag and proclaim Indonesia Raya. Thank you for all the prayers,” said Widi.

The Tokyo 2020 Paralympic silver medalist stated that she did not feel sufficiently fit.

“But that’s not an excuse because as an athlete you have to be ready for the match. But honestly, my body is not in its best condition,” said Widi.
