New regulation of BPJS Kesehatan ward class system is near completion

Jakarta, IO – The policy to abolish the ward class system (Class 1-3) for BPJS Kesehatan hospitalization is in its final stage. In its place, the government will implement a standard inpatient class (KRIS) scheme. The new rule is a revision to Presidential Regulation 82/2018.

Health Ministry Secretary General Kunta Wibawa Dasa Nugraha explained that the regulation is waiting to be signed by President Jokowi and will be gradually implemented this year.

“We are waiting for the presidential regulation. There have been internal discussions,” Kunta said, reported by CNBC Indonesia, Friday (3/2).

According to Kunta, KRIS dry runs have been carried out in 14 public and private hospitals. The first trial in January was carried out in four hospitals –Central General Hospital (RSUP) Rivai Abdullah in Palembang, RSUP Tadjuddin Chalid in Makassar, RSUP Johannes Leimena in Ambon and RSUP Surakarta.
