National Library Ready to hold National Coordination Meeting on Libraries in 2022

Jakarta, IO – The 2022 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) for Libraries will be held on 29-30 March 2022 using a hybrid method, namely offline and online. The event, entitled ‘Library Transformation to Realize a National Digital Ecosystem’, involved all library personnel and literacy activists from various regions.

This year’s National Library Meeting is expected to be attended by 10,000 participants and filled with various interesting discussions that explore issues and challenges of Indonesian literacy. Of the total participants, 750 participants will attend offline and 9,250 participants online.

Offline participants consist of the Head of the Provincial and Regency/City Library Services, the Chairperson of the Library/Publisher/Recording Entrepreneur Forum and parties who have collaborated with the National Library of Indonesia.

Head of the National Library of Indonesia Muhammad Syarif Bando said that improving the quality of superior human resources (HR) who have the ability to adapt technology is needed to support the implementation of digital-based economic transformation.

“Literacy has a positive contribution to create a skilled, skilled, creative, and innovative workforce. It is necessary to continue to develop the capabilities of workers and the workforce in adopting new tools, processes and procedures to be ready to face the industrial revolution 4.0,” said Syarif Bando in a press conference welcoming the National Library Coordination Meeting, at the National Library of Indonesia Building, Thursday (24/3).

Syarif Bando also added that to face the industrial revolution 4.0, libraries must open opportunities to synergize with change. For this reason, libraries are required to have capacity building, design and interactivity, as well as changing mindsets. Consolidation and coordination between stakeholders in the library sector must be intensely carried out so that synergies between the center and the regions can be realized, so that the digital ecosystem can be realized immediately.

The 2022 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) for Libraries with an offline system will be held at the Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, and online via the Zoom application. It is planned that the National Coordination Meeting will be officially opened by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy who was also appointed as the keynote speaker, accompanying the Head of the National Library. Representing the DPR RI, Syaiful Huda, who is now the Chair of Commission X, also explained the legislative support in the digital transformation of libraries. (ph)
