IO – Nadya Atalia Sinaga is proud of being able to strengthen Indonesia’s national water-skiing team. However, Nadya also has her own special mission in representing Indonesia in SEA Games XXX/2019 Manila.
“Mother is very happy because I have been called up to the Indonesian team. I will try even harder to make her happy. My mission in the Philippines is to get to the podium in Clark later,” said Nadya Atalia Sinaya in the sending-off ceremony of the Indonesian water-skiing team in Function Hall NOC Indonesia, FX Senayan, Jakarta on Tuesday, November 26.
It won’t be easy for the May 2, 2000, Jakarta-born girl to fulfill her mission in SEA Games 2019. She must compete with athletes from host country Philippines and from Thailand, both of which who have performed well on the international stage.
“The biggest competition comes from athletes from the Philippines and Thailand. However, I will try to defeat them. I am certain anything can happen if God wills it,” asserted the Batak-Manado girl.
The second-oldest daughter of Agra Pul Tahina Sinaga and Ira Virgina Tulong was introduced to water skiing by her mother who competed in the sport for North Sulawesi in National Sports Week (PON) 1989.
“Athlete’s blood flows from mother. When ten years old, I and my brother already brought mother water skiing training in Sunter. From there I started to love water skiing and tried to achieve my best,” explained the Faculty of Dentistry student from Universitas Kristen Maranatha in Bandung.
In SEA Games XXX/2019 Manila, Indonesia’s water-skiing team aims to win two out of five gold medals for the men’s and women’s skicable and wakeboard categories.
Good luck Nadya – hopefully you can accomplish your mission in Clark! (rp)
