Multiple KPK Staff Suspected of Playing Online Gambling


Jakarta, IO – Hadi Tjahjanto, Head of the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force, who is also the coordinating political, legal, and security affairs minister, revealed that 17 employees of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) are suspected of playing online gambling. “According to reports, these 17 KPK employees range from drivers to internal affairs staff,” he said, per CNN Indonesia, Wednesday (10/7).

Hadi went on to clarify that most of these employees are no longer working with KPK. “The chairman of KPK is committed to impose strict disciplinary action to all employees involved in online gambling. However, most of them are no longer employed by the KPK,” he explained.

“I noted that the transactions vary. On average they play three to five times a day, betting an average of between Rp300,000 and Rp400,000 each time,” he said.

Having discovered that its employees are involved in online gambling, KPK is going to set up more stringent measures. “In response to the results of our initial investigations, the KPK Inspectorate is going to collect more information on the matter and take follow up actions. We have also continued to warn our employees on the danger of online gambling,” said KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika. (un)
