Muhamad Diki Permana takes a Silver at KNMIPA

IO, Bandung – Muhamad Diki Permana from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Padjadjaran University, Bandung, won a silver medal at the National Mathematics and Natural Sciences Competition (KNMIPA) held by the Ministry of Education and Culture, 7-9 September 2020. The announcement was made online on September 10, 2020. 

“This achievement proves that Padjadjaran University can compete with other top universities in Indonesia, since my motivation so far is ‘Whatever comes your way, keep going and be enthusiastic to make your alma mater proud’,” said Diki, the nickname of Muhamad Diki Permana, when contacted by Padjadjaran University’s Public Relations office, Monday (9/14/2020). 

KNMIPA is a national competition participated in by students from various universities in Indonesia. Competitions are in the fields of chemistry, mathematics, physics, and biology. This year the KNMIPA is held online. Diki achieved this achievement after participating in three stages of selection, namely, local, regional, and national levels. The national-level selection was attended by 50 of the best students from all over Indonesia. 

In participating in the competition, Diki was required to answer several multiple-choice questions within the time set by the committee. “Chemistry is further divided into four major disciplines, namely inorganic, physical, organic, and analytical chemistry,” said Diki. 

Before participating in the selection, Diki prepared himself by studying various materials in the field of chemistry. In addition to trying to study chemistry questions on his own at the national level, Diki also received assistance from a number of his lecturers. “I hope that other students are encouraged and enthusiastic to participate in this KNMIPA in the coming year and bring achievements to Padjadjaran University,” Diki concluded.
