She explained that the preservation of the Batavia wall will be carried out in-situ or left intact as opposed to ex-situ where it can be moved or taken brick by brick, for example, tram lines, ancient waterways, and artifacts which can be displayed at a museum or visitor center.
“In-situ means we will not touch it. We will just leave it there, because it’s too precious,” said Silvia. She said the company is not allowed to move or lift the wall.
