Miners go on hunger strike, accusing company of violating their rights

Jakarta, IO – A group who calls themselves People’s Alliance Against Mining Mafia (Amanat) of West Sumbawa launched a hunger strike outside the office of the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM), Jakarta, Tuesday (13/12).

They protested the actions taken by PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara whom they accused of committing human rights violations, among others, unjust and heavy-handed labour policies on occupational accident, union busting, arbitrary retrenchment, working hours, blacklist, alert list and social media restrictions as well as lack of clarity on community empowerment and development program (PPM) and post-mining measures in West Sumbawa.
