Karawang, IO – A unique moment happened during the ceremony to mark rice harvest in the 37-hectare field owned by the Army Strategic Reserves Command (Kostrad) in Kedungjaya village, Batujaya District, Karawang, West Java.

The Army Chief of Staff (KASAD) General Dudung Abdurrachman took time to take pictures with the farmers’ children, who were keen to approach the entourage comprising Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) officials and Kostrad commander.

Taking pictures with artists or officials can be an interesting moment for everyone, but for the children it posing with soldiers that makes it memorable. This may have something to do with the tradition in Karawang where if a child is circumcised, their parents will buy them army or police uniform because in their eyes the state security apparatus is a dashing figure with their distinctive fatigues.

Ilham (10), one of the children, was playing in the fields with several of his friends while herding ducks. He approached the site of the harvest ceremony because he was curious to see the soldiers he always idolizes.
