Jakarta, IO – The family of Ferdinand Marcos has regained control of the Philippines with the inauguration of the late dictator’s son, Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. (popularly known as Bongbong), as the new president of the Philippines on Thursday (30/6).
According to Liputan6, Marcos Jr’s popularity is driven by aggressive social media campaign which was able to attract underage voters who never lived under his father’s dictatorship.
Although many critics have thrown accusations that the campaign was rife with misinformation to obscure the atrocities committed by his father, Marcos Jr. strongly denied this.
