Jakarta, IO – Social activities are one form of a company’s responsibility to the community where it conducts its business operations. No exception for Rimini Street, a technology company based in the United States that has served many clients in Indonesia for the past few years.

In an exclusive interview with the Independent Observer while attending a CSR activity themed Empower Tech: Unplugged Coding Lesson for Special Need organized by Prestasi Junior Indonesia and fully supported by Rimini Street in Jakarta, Friday (2/8/2024), Janet Ravin explained her company’s commitment to continue the charity it’s been pursuing since 2015: she states that the uniqueness of the Rimini Street Foundation CSR program is that it involves all employees nominating or recommending institutions or charities as partners in distributing aid.

“We have a committee consisting of volunteers – made up of our employees. The values they embrace are reflected in this foundation. We have more than 525 charities that have become partners, and we do a lot of volunteer activities around the world, across six continents to date. Each charity is quite unique. Beside sharing laptops or school supplies, we also engage in charity work like what is done here (Jakarta),” explained the founder of the Rimini Street Foundation, a charitable program privately funded by Rimini Street Inc. and its global subsidiaries.

Janet said that living by loving and giving is a source of joy for everyone. There are more things to think about than just making money. “Our values are about making the world a better place. In choosing organizational partners, we have no boundaries. The only thing we don’t do is politics or religion. So, for us, this is humans helping humans,” said the VP, of Marketing Brand, Content, and Communications of Rimini Street.

Rimini Street’s core values “4C’s”: Company, Clients, Colleagues and Community. Janet, who loves travelling and reading, is credited with the launch of ERG programs including Team Pink, the Company’s breast cancer survivor and support group; Team Grit, the Company’s veterans support group; and multiple programs and events focused on wellness, learning and togetherness. Her team’s efforts, coupled with the passionate support of Rimini Street colleagues, have been recognized with multiple, global workplace awards.

“We have an after-school program for children, providing a different experience. We introduce them to the environment outside of school. We bring children who live in slums to our office on the 19th floor; they are amazed. So, for them, this is about seeing a different world. And we want to give them that opportunity. We want to invite them into our world and give them that opportunity.”

In Indonesia, the Rimini Street Foundation’s CSR activities in Jakarta focus on children with cerebral palsy, a condition resulting from a brain development disorder that occurs while the child is still in the womb. However, this brain development disorder can also occur during the labor process, or even up to a year after birth. In this Empower Tech: Unplugged Coding Lesson for Special Need activity, children with cerebral palsy were introduced to technology and its terms by volunteers.

“I think what they do is amazing: no matter if they are physically different or have special needs, they are still able to do something right. Who knows? There might be a child with brilliant abilities in the room; you never know until you give them a chance. Thus, for me, this fits our philosophy of equal opportunity, about the extraordinary thing about making the world a better place,” a member of the Rotary Club of Las Vegas and a board member of the American Red Cross Southern Nevada Chapter, which holds a professional certification in Human Resources (PHR) from HRCI and is a graduate of the civil engineering technology program at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology in Toronto, Canada, concluded.
