Jakarta, IO – Not many country musicians in Indonesia have consistently worked publicly in the past five years. Joining forces with great names in our nation’s country music – Tantowi Yahya, Nizar Muhammad, Roy West J., Rani Tofani – Jakarta-born country musician Leon Travis made his debut in 2020 with his single, Is He The One. His second single, The Hardest Part, got his work recognized in the American music industry.
This success emboldened Leon to seek bigger stages. Recently, the United States Embassy in Jakarta allowed Leon the honor of singing the American anthem, the Star-Spangled Banner, during the celebration of America’s 246th year of Independence, on the 4th of July. The event was held in the official residence of Ambassador Kim in Jakarta.
“I have fulfilled this trust in full! Singing the American anthem before Ambassador Kim; Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud M.D.; and the other guests of honor is an unforgettable experience for me. It was both exciting and tense. I am so proud that I represented Indonesia in this event,” Leon said.
