Beck then released his second solo album titled Blow By Blow which was entirely instrumental and managed to perch at the top four on the American Billboard 200 and was awarded a Platinum Disc by the Recording Industry Association of America. Beck continued to experiment throughout the 70s and released other successful albums such as Wired and There and Back.

Beck’s performance began to decline in the 1980s due to tinnitus (sound in the head with no external source). Even so, he continued to produce phenomenal works such as an album titled Flash in collaboration with Rod Stewart, former lead singer of the band The Jeff Beck Group. One of the songs from this album, entitled Escape, won the Grammy award for best rock instrumental in 1986.

During the 1990s, Beck collaborated with Jon Bon Jovi, Kate Bush and Roger Waters. Then in 1999, he released his seventh album titled Who Else, which combined elements of techno and rock. After the turn of the century, Beck performed less and less and chose to spend more time at his home in Wadhurst, Southern England.

His last album, titled 18, is a collaboration with Johnny Depp in 2022. They cover original songs from Marvin Gaye, the Velvet Underground and other classic artists. Music observers consider the album to be a collection of records that are highly unusual and manage to capture the hallmarks of Beck’s golden years. (bp)
