Jakarta, IO – The new version of Twitter Blue (paid blue check) was discontinued just two days after its launch due to supposed lack of interest. Only 61,000 people have registered from November 9-10, according to mobile analytics firm Sensor Tower, reported CNN Indonesia, Saturday (12/11).

This initial period of analysis began when Twitter Blue rolled out to Apple iOS users in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. They noted that Twitter Blue made just US$488,000 (Rp7.5 billion) in two days.

Previously, Twitter Blue was priced at US$2-3 before it was increased to US$8 after Elon became its CEO. The number of Twitter Blue registrants is relatively small considering that it has 238 million active users worldwide, with 10 percent of them categorized as power users (active users who encourage conversation and engagement).

Twitter Blue itself is a feature for those who have been verified with a blue check next to their handle. Musk has made this feature a mainstay to generate revenue after he acquired Twitter since the company’s advertising revenue has plummeted after advertisers paused spending on the social media platform.
