“For this activity, according to the Election Law, the database we use is the sub-district aggregate population data provided by the Home Ministry, so today we will symbolically start the preparation of the electoral districts for regency/municipality Regional Legislative Councils (DPRD),” said Hasyim.

Furthermore, KPU is scheduled to receive a database of Indonesian citizens overseas from the Foreign Ministry and update the data of potential voters (DP4) from the Home Ministry in December.

“There are around 2,310,000 migrant workers registered abroad. From the data submitted by the Foreign Ministry we can find out how many additional potential voters are living overseas,” said Hasyim.

“Those who have met the requirements will be recorded and included into the voters list so they are eligible to vote in the 2024 election.” (rr)
